CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

 
Managing Projects and Policies
  • Establishes and implements policies, procedures, and standards to verify overall technology reliability within Corporate IT guidelines
  • Coordinates and implements communications for all installations, change menagement and problem resolution
  • Responsible for compliance with appropriate Marriott International Policy and Information Security Manual.  Is authorized to take action to address deficiencies.
  • Ensures periodic inventories of applications and hardware are conducted and the results are reported.
  • Position requires managing and participating in a 24x7x 365 (cell phone) coverage or schedule rotations. 
  • Ensures compliance to technology-related vendor contracts.
  • Provides timely, accurate, and detailed status reports as requested.
  • Assists in managing local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) performance. Verifies network availability to all system users and timely responsiveness to maintenance needs and user requirements.
  • Manages and maintains all network software and hardware. Provides troubleshooting as needed. Recommends new or improved desktop software for associates.
  • Provides for 24/7 Network and Desktop support.
  • Oversees and/or coordinates all office related projects involving network and desktop resources.
  • Partners with iT Field operations to ensure compliance and services availability.
 
Ensuring Technology Needs are Met
  • Evaluates and makes recommendations regarding technology/asset life-cycles.  Ensures that office is properly equipped in terms of PCs, hardware, servers, etc.
  • Foresees, identifies and resolves system(s)’ performance problems
  • Creates and ensures implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity plans as they relate to technology. 
  • Ensures securing and maintaining technology assets accordance with Marriott International policies and standards.
  • Possesses advanced knowledge in the areas of data communications, desktop support, and servers/networks.  Uses knowledge to solve 2nd level support issues and train/develop staff.
  • Ensures availability of current documentation for cabling, network systems, applications, telecom services and data packages exist.
 
Forecasting and Complying with Financial Parameters 
  • Ensures that office has realistically budgeted CAPEX and operating budgets based on anticipated IT projects and support/needs/changes.
  • Possesses in-depth understanding of technology contracts and is able to consolidate technology service contracts and telecom contracts to optimize costs.
  • Reviews operating statements; researches and resolves discrepancies in technology charges from corporate.
  • Reviews vendor proposals and selects appropriate vendor for local technologies/hardware.

  • Presents proposals, analyses, projects, cost-models, etc. in a well- written and/or verbally articulate manner.

Qualifications

 

 

Education and Experience

  • BS/BA or equivalent work experience.  Additionally, 5-7 years experience in like position.
  • Previous experience in iT Global Field Services or Marriott Systems Support highly desirable.
  • System-related professional certifications desired.
  • Demonstrated hospitality management skills
  • Experienced in network hardware, desktop, peripherals, protocols, communications, operating systems.
  • 2-year degree from an accredited university in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related major; 4 years’ experience in Information Technology, Computer Science or related professional area.
OR
  • 4-year bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related major; certified trainer; 2 years’ experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related professional area.
