Our Client is a privately owned international logistics, construction, procurement and facilities management provider. They are specialists in providing their services in mining, oil and gas, post conflict, remote and other arduous environments. Evolving from early roots in Africa over 40 years ago, our client has substantial experience providing integrated solutions and delivering comprehensive projects in mining, oil and gas and post conflict zones and developing countries and remote locations worldwide. Headquartered in Dubai, they began serving clients in Afghanistan in 2002 and in the years since has grown into a large multifaceted firm, employing over 1,000 staff from 27 different nations. Today they manage projects in such locations as North Sudan, South Sudan, Sierra Leone, Kenya, Chad, Uganda and Somalia. They are currently seeking a Bid Technical Writer to be based in Dubai, UAE. The contract is initially for 12 months with extensions depending upon performance. Reporting into the Business Development Director, the successful candidate will be responsible or preparing proposals by determining concept; gathering and formatting information; writing drafts; obtaining approvals. They are also responsible for creating business winning documentation to an exceptionally high standard. You will determine proposal concept by identifying and clarifying opportunities and needs; studying requests for proposal (RFP’s). You will check drafts for readability, clarity, grammar, spelling, punctuation, sentence structure and formatting. You will ensure the Bid Team produces high-quality documents and ensures completed proposals meet the bid specifications. You will attend strategy meetings. You will meet proposal deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, and approval; coordinating requirements with bid contributors; transmitting proposals. You will gather proposal information by identifying sources of information; coordinating submissions and collections; identifying and communicating risks associated with proposals. You will develop proposal by assembling information including project nature, objectives/outcomes/deliverables, implementation, methods, timetable, staffing, budget, standards of performance, and evaluation; writing, revising, and editing drafts including executive summaries, conclusions, and organization credentials. You will prepare presentations by evaluating text, graphics, and binding; coordinating printing. You will be responsible for proofreading of created material and the work of other team members. You will provide constructive criticism on any areas that may need adjustment, working together to ensure a submission of the highest standard is achieved. You will receive and deal with extensive enquiries from colleagues and Clients concerning tenders both current and historically. You will create and maintain an effective and constantly evolving reference library. Finally, you will liaise with external clients and Consultants where necessary. Requirements You will be an accomplished Bid Technical Writer with experience in writing technical documentation, quality documentation, training manuals or similar materials within a corporate environment. Ideally you will have carried out bid writing for companies operating in any of the following: construction, logistics / transport, foodservice, industrial catering, camp maintenance or plant and equipment. Ideally your practical bid writing experience will be supported by a qualification in either construction, engineering or similar related subject. You should be experienced in the use of databases, spreadsheets and the internet for reporting purposes. You will be flexible enough to adjust actions in response to changes in priorities. You will be aware of the impact of decisions on the team and assist in making decisions based on limited information. You will be aware of and understanding the implications of new information for both current and future. You will be good at paying attention to detail, self-motivated, discrete and able to manage confidential information. You will be willing to travel to operational zones if required and willing to undertake additional training to meet the requirements of the position, as required. You will have strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships and working relationships with people in multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect of diversity. You will have a commitment to continuous learning – willing to keep abreast of new developments in bids and tenders. You should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, be able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner and work to tight deadlines. Experience of working in a military environment or for an international facilities management services provider and other similar organisations would be ideal, as would experience of working in remote sites or in other arduous environments. Finally, you should be pc literate and possess a Drivers Licence. This is an outstanding challenge for an accomplished Bid Technical Writer looking for something different. The basic salary is paid in AED (Dirhams) and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. Mobilization and De-Mobilization flights are paid for by our client.
