Salary: approx 15,500AED per month (Tax Free) +Medical coverage+ Annual 30 days paid leave+ annual airfare Working Hours: 48 hours a week Work Environment: very professional, multi national POSITION TITLE: Physical Therapist (Rehabilitation Unit) REPORTS TO: Rehabilitation Unit Manager POSITION SUMMARY: Conducts a functional assessment and physical evaluation of patients referred from a Physician. Plans and administers physical therapy programs for patients to maximize function, relieve pain and prevent disability as per the identified need and treatment plan. POSITION QUALIFICATION: Educational Requirements: Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy or Physiotherapy or Diploma in Physiotherapy (minimum three (3) years duration). Professional Experience: At least three (3) years of recent post-graduate experience, two (2) years of which must be in Hospital or Rehabilitation facilities with a wide background of acute cases (i.e. ICU, acute medical / surgical, paediatrics etc). Current license in country of origin and DHA license.-Preferred Specialist training/experience in rehabilitation desirable. Private hospital experience desirable. Specialized Skills: Good listening skills. Critical thinking skills. Effective time management skills. Problem solving skills. Basic computer skills with (Windows, Excel, Power point, Microsoft outlook). Conflict management skills. Clinical skills inclusive of orthopaedic, sports medicine, neurologic, prosthetics/orthotics, and computerized testing. Age specific competency. LINES OF RESPONSIBILITY Physical Therapist --------- Rehabilitation Unit Manager and Director of Rehabilitation Services PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: LEADERSHIP / ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS: Demonstrates problem solving / critical thinking skills ensuring effective functioning of unit routine. Collaborates with multi-disciplinary team to provide patient care. Participates in staff meetings and unit committees / projects. Demonstrates cooperation and respect with the multidisciplinary team. Performs duties as per the job description, employee contract and as per the Hospital’s Code of Conduct and Human Resource Policies. Participates in developing and achieving unit goals Performs additional duties when required as per job description. CLINICAL FUNCTIONS: Demonstrates skills in continual assessment of patient physical and psychological needs and ability to document in line with hospital standards. Demonstrates skill in co-ordination and planning of care / clinical pathway, and prioritizing care, based on individual needs. Revises care plan in response to patient needs, outcome reached and changes in goals as per the patient’s progress. Demonstrates knowledge of and the ability to render care and services based on specific unit specialities, age appropriateness, and patient care development. Performs physical therapy interventions / procedures in accordance with established standards of care and policy and procedures. Maintains accurate and thorough documentation following established standards of care and policy and procedures. Effectively shares knowledge and skills with colleagues and others through case conferences, case studies, multidisciplinary rounds and in-services. Maintains a safe environment for patients and staff by implementing and adhering to all hospital policies and procedures. Evaluate effects of physical therapy treatments and/or fit of prosthetic and orthotic devices by observing, noting and evaluating patient progress, recommending adjustments and modifications. Uses selected measurements procedures, such as joint ROM tests, manual muscle tests, functional and coordination tests. Assures continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge/transfer by designing home exercise program, instructing patients, families and caregivers in home exercise programs, recommending and/or providing assistive equipment and recommending outpatient or home health follow-up programs. Involves the patient and/or the family in the treatment goal setting, and obtaines their consent and understanding. Applies appropriate modalities, at correct dosages, and to the correct length and intensity, as deemed necessary by initial and ongoing patient evaluation Instructs and educates patients, families and caregivers on all topics related to treatment, home programs, self care, work related and other. Administers physical therapy treatments by giving massages, initiating traction, applying physical agents, utilizing hydrotherapy tanks, moist packs, ultraviolet and infrared lamps and ultrasound machines and directing treatments given by technicians and assistants. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Demonstrates a high standard of customer service that positively impacts customer’s satisfaction. Responds promptly and positively to patients, families, co-workers, and all others in a respectful, courteous and confidential manner. Participates in customer service training and continuing education. Demonstrates telephone etiquette that includes a clear voice, courteous response and ability to receive and direct messages Demonstrates skill in applying cultural sensitivity in all customer encounters. Promotes and maintains a culture of safety. COMMUNICATION: Ensures that all necessary communications that involve patient care are properly disseminated in a timely and confidential manner. Answers the Telephone in a polite manner and provides the correct information. Promotes effective Physician/Physical Therapist communication.
