This individual will partner with the Chancellor and Vice Chancellor to elevate the stature of the University as a whole by advancing strategic priorities and encouraging collaboration among colleges and departments. The next Provost should possess the skills necessary to foster a welcoming, inclusive environment that makes it possible to attract, motivate and retain faculty and students of distinction. In addition, the successful candidate will demonstrate well-developed communication and management skills as well as a commitment to transparency. The individual will have excellent academic credentials, including a Ph.D. and a reputation for excellence as a teacher and a scholar. Job Description: Academic Leadership of the University Sets the University's academic strategy and priorities and determines the ‘institutional architecture’ of offered program and their academic integrity. Responsible for the enrolment plan development and implementation for continual growth. Formulates and proposes policies concerning all facets of academic and student affairs. Oversees the policies, procedures and governance of the degrees awarded and ensures those policies support the academic integrity and the academic experience simultaneously. Acts as a key spokesperson and advocate for the culture, values, roles, and responsibilities of the university. Drives accreditation with national and international institutions. Oversees the creation of a comprehensive, integrated student retention plan. Supervises the assessment of all academic and student affairs programs and services to measure and plan continuous improvement. Leadership of people and processes Leads and directs Deans to meet/exceed enrolment targets, retention rates, and graduation rates for all Colleges, and ensures the mission driven academic and co-curricular objectives are achieved. Works closely with the Chancellor to provide overall internal executive leadership to, and support for, the faculty, staff, and their respective systems of support in Academic and Student Affairs through the creation, revision, and/or removal of policies related to Academic and Student Affairs. Represents the University's externally, specifically to organizations with which it has close ties or partnership agreements. Oversees and guides the creation and implementation of the annual operational plans for Academic and Student Affairs and assists in achieving the University's institutional objectives and strategic plan. Prepares the annual budget for Academic and Student Affairs, in line with the University's strategic priorities. Provides leadership in the incorporation of instructional technologies to improve student learning. Administrative Leadership Works closely with the Board of Directors, the Chancellor and Vice Chancellor, and various university constituents to develop, implement and communicate academic and holistic development strategies and plans for ADU. Represents students and faculty at the higher committee level. Requirements: Research PhD from an accredited western university. Minimum of 12 years of demonstrated successful experience in progressively responsible teaching, administrative and educational leadership positions including being a dean and/or a provost in a US higher educational institution setting. Track record of research and scholarship. Language: English is a must, Arabic is preferred.
